So a little while back Tony and I headed to downtown Atlanta for a fun afternoon in the sun. I had seen something about a German restaurant that had really good reviews in ATL, so I dragged Tony out to try it with me.
My grandmother was born and raised in Germany, so I definitely have a soft spot (and high expectations) for German food. I have to say, this place lived up to my expectations. It was so delicious and so much fun!
I was really hoping that I would be able to drink out of a boot without having to order a 5 liter beer. Lucky for my they had ONE boot left!
It was a liter, but I’ll take what I can get. Even if it means warm beer at the end because I can’t drink beer that fast. However, in Germany (and maybe most of Europe?) they don’t drink their beer ice cold, so really, I’m just going authentic…
Anyway, I was super excited not only about the boot liter, but also the menu. They had so many of my grandma’s dishes, I couldn’t decide what to get!
We started off with a giant pretzel that came with 3 different mustard dipping sauces. I put my hand in there to show ya how big it was.
For my lunch I ended up with the wurstplatten.
It came with one bratwurst, potato salad and sauerkraut. The potato salad fell short of my grandmas, but that sauerkraut was AMAZING.
Tony and I had a really, really fun time. The service was on point, the food tasted authentic and not “Americanized” and the beer was delicious (they had a huge selection!). If you’re in Atlanta and looking for a fun place to grab a meal that is tasty, I HIGHLY recommend Der Biergarten!
Disclaimer: I wasn’t paid to do this review, Der Biergarten does not even know E4F exists. Tony and I really enjoy trying new restaurants around our area, so I figured that I would do a review of some good ones we find!
PS: Erst mach' dein' Sach, Dann trink' und lach! = First take care of business, Then drink and laugh!
I just drove past that place yesterday and was wondering about it. Looks awesome!
