Other St. Lucia recaps: excursions (pt 1), excursions (pt 2), the resort
The very first morning I started off the day with a run at the gym, came back and showered, then headed to breakfast with Tony. I hoped that would be the routine each and every morning. Welp, it was not. For starters, our excursions all began at 8am and I was not waking up any earlier than that on vacation. Also, I was lazy.
After that first morning we fell into a pretty awesome routine. We would wake up without alarms and head down for breakfast. I pretty much got the same thing each morning, poached eggs and toast with mango slices and a banana.
Let me tell you, fresh mangos and bananas are OUT. OF. CONTROL. I ate about 10 mangos over the course of the week.
After breakfast we would head back to the room and put on our sun screen and swim suits. From there we would either head off to an excursion, or head down to the pool or beach.
After lounging at the pool or beach for a couple hours we would locate to a new spot. Usually the hillside pool.
Around then it was time for our first beverage of the day. Sometimes it was a margarita, sometimes a beer. Other times it would be a mojito (when they weren’t out of mint), but somedays were a BBC kind of day.
A BBC would be a glorious mix of banana, baileys and coconut cream. I actually ended up changing up the recipe a bit and instead of coconut cream I asked for coconut rum. Saved a couple calories and added an extra punch. Not that it was light in calories or high in alcohol in general.
After our it’s 5 o’clock somewhere drinks we headed to lunch. For lunch we either ate at the beachside grill or at the buffet again.
Then after lunch we would usually end up back at the hillside pool to get our read on for another hour or two. Or get our snooze on…
By then we were ready to socialize with other resort guests, so we would head to the swim-up bar for a couple hours.
We met some really nice people from all over the country. It was weird that we only ended up talking to Americans though, because I think that 80% of the people at the resort were not Americans. I guess we American's are the only ones that like a good swim up bar, haha.
After a while of chatting we would head up to the room so we could watch the sunset from our awesome view.
Once the sunset was over we showered up and went down to dinner.
So I guess Tony likes blue and khaki. Or I didn’t pack him enough clothes
. Also, we had 7 dinners but the first one I went in strechy pants and a tank top and the last night I had to reuse a dress because I accidently left one at home (THE HORROR!). Just in case you were curious.
After dinner we would head to the “Sunset Lounge” for the nightly entertainment and a night cap. Sometimes it was cheesy, but other times it was quite fun.
Fire breathing man and a fire limbo. Yowza!
Then somewhere between 9 and 10 I was ready to faceplant into the table I was so tired. So we would head back to the room, go to bed and then start it all over again.
Um, I think that is the perfect vacation schedule. Seriously, our biggest problems were figuring out where we wanted to lay our behinds and the fact that I couldn’t see my iPad screen with my polarized sunglasses (<—seriously Apple, get on that!). Pure awesomeness!
What’s your vacation schedule?
We just went to Las Vegas and I did the same thing regarding the workouts. I thought I was going to start each morning with some gym time and I did for the first two mornings and then after that, it never happened again!
