Yesterday completed day 1 of the Best Body Bootcamp. I started the workout on the treadmill doing intervals that looked like this:
- Min 0-5 at 4.0 with incline at 7.0
- Min 5-15 alternating 60sec at 5.0 and 60sec at 7.0
- 16-20 at 4.0 with incline at 4.0
Pretty much standard intervals, but had me sweaty and red-faced once I finished. Then I went on to complete the arm/back/chest supersets that Tina had created for us.
I’m not as sore as I thought I would be today, thankfully, but I still do feel it!
Home Sweet Home
As promised, I’m updating you on what I’ve been up to these past couple weeks. Well, a couple weekends ago I took a long weekend (Weds-Sun) and went up to DC to spend some time with family and friends. I haven’t been home to see them since my half-marathon in March. That may not seem like long to people who are used to living long distance from family, but to me it’s been forever!
Tony wasn’t able to take off work, so I went by myself. However, that didn’t keep me from seeing his family. I was able to see almost everyone (minus his brother), which is the first time since Christmas!
I was also able to meet Susan, the youngest of the nieces and nephews. She was born in January and I wasn’t able to catch up with them when I was in town in March.
Isn’t she a cutie?! It was so good to see everyone and chat for a few hours. Can’t wait to see everyone again for Thanksgiving!
A couple days later my family and friends all came to my parents house and we had a big Mexican fiesta!
I forgot to take a picture of the food, but there was a TON! Burritos, tacos, enchiladas, rice, salsa, guac… you know, all of my favorite things!
In addition to eating, I was able to see and chat with some of my favorite people. I wish I took more pictures, but I was too busy talking! I did get some though:
saw my best girls, Katie, Larissa and Courtney.
Our good friends Melissa, Reed and their little bun in the oven (!!!!!).
Oh, and who do we have here? That’s Mike and Melissa (plus their baby bump)! Our former ATL-ers who are now DC-ers. Yup, they left us in Atlanta for a job outside of the district. I’m super bummed about them leaving, but at least they re-located to a spot that I visit often! I was also really excited to introduce them to my family and friends in the area. It’s fun when different circles of friends come together!
We all hung out at my parents and attempted to play cornhole and sit outside. The rain ruined those plans, so we headed to the basement for some fun and (indoor) games. My parents basement is good for that!
It was a really fun night! I’m so happy that I was able to see so many people. In addition to the people pictured above I was able to see my grandparents, my cousins Kyle and Ruth, my aunt and uncle and one of my other bff’s, Liz.
It was SO nice to get home and see everyone! Trips always seem to go by so fast and I am never able to see every single person that I want to because there are just too many people, but I am so lucky that I am able to see a good majority of them each time. I just try and make a point to see the people I missed the next time I go (I’m looking at you, AK!).
Can’t wait for the next visit!
Not the best picture we’ve ever taken, but it was the only one I took of the three of us while I was home.
If you live far from your family, how often do you get home?
